Emily Burn

Emily has been studying singing since her school days in Oxford with the Oxford Girls’ Choir (MD Richard Vendome).  She went to university in Manchester and, whilst studying for a degree in Social Anthropology, she performed at various music festivals in the Northwest, in recital classes for folk, classical and operatic repertoire.  Now based in the Southeast, Emily has performed lieder at the Maldon Arts Festival, and in master classes with Sarah Walker as part of the Oxford Lieder Festival (2008), Holywell Music Room.  In 2015, Emily performed in an improvisational show – KIMA – at Union Chapel London: a show of light, music, and architecture.

Emily’s performance focus is primarily on ensemble singing, foremost with Voice.  She also performs with The Dufay Collective directed by William Lyons and the Early Music group, Sinfonye, directed by composer Stevie Wishart.  Emily performed Wishart’s composition Out of This World with Sinfonye at the Cadogan Hall as part of the 2011 BBC Proms.  She performs with the all-female choir, Schola Pietatis Antonio Vivaldi (SPAV), which specialises in authentic performances of Vivaldi and his contemporaries.   Her performances with SPAV have taken her to La Pieta in Venice, the Holywell Music Room, Oxford, St George’s Bloomsbury, and the London Festival of Baroque Music – St John’s Smith Square (2015).
