Clemmie Franks is a versatile singer and creative producer, recognised for her work as both a soloist and ensemble vocalist. She holds a Postgraduate Diploma with Distinction from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.
Alongside a diverse performance career, Clemmie has extensive experience in developing, managing, and delivering collaborative artistic projects. Her work spans touring, commissioning, producing, fundraising, and creative direction across a range of genres and performance settings.
Voice – Vocal Trio
Co-founded by Clemmie 19 years ago, Voice has established an international reputation through extensive touring across the UK and USA, the creation of innovative collaborative projects, and the commissioning of new works.
Clemmie plays a central role in the artistic and administrative management of the ensemble, including project development, fundraising, tour coordination, and the management of commissioning and touring budgets of up to £20,000.
Selected projects include:
- Patterns of Love – a touring, new commission project supported by Arts Council England.
- Hildegard Transfigured – a multimedia collaboration with visual artist Innerstrings, supported by Help Musicians through touring and commissioning grants. The project has been selected for presentation at Classical:NEXT 2026.
Dowland’s Foundry
Co-founded in 2024, Dowland’s Foundry is a lute song ensemble dedicated to the performance and exploration of Elizabethan repertoire.
Clemmie led the organisation and management of a collaborative project supported by Magdalen College, Oxford and the Golsoncott Foundation, overseeing planning, partnerships, and project delivery for five videos performing from an unique bound copy of John Dowland’s book 1,2,3 in Magdalen College Old Library.

The Telling
Clemmie is a performer with The Telling, an award-winning company creating work where music and theatre meet. She appeared in the touring production Vision, exploring the life and legacy of Hildegard of Bingen.
The production received critical acclaim, with Musical America describing the performance:

In addition to performing, Clemmie has contributed to the curation and development of interdisciplinary artistic events.
One example is Last Night I Dreamt of Stars, created for Bartlemas 900, a live improvisation work for solo voice (Clemmie Franks) and gong circle led by Lawrence Casserley (Oxford Improvisers). Presented within the unique historic setting of Bartlemas Chapel, a former leper hospice chapel, the performance combined voice, improvisation, and immersive sound to explore the words of Babek, a torture survivor featured in Captive Voices: An Anthology of Prose and Poems edited by John McCarthy. The project responded sensitively to themes of resilience, memory, and human experience, creating a powerful dialogue between text, architecture, and sound
